Audrey Jolly: Flowing Body to Fluid Acrylics

Saturday, October 23rd, 2004 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

We will begin with a gentle body warm-up, followed by physical exploration into WEIGHT, SPACE, TIME and FLOW. These elements will be linked into line, texture and form in painting. We will work in an abstract style with fluid acrylics. Bring your own paints (fluid acrylics if you have them, or watercolours if you prefer), brushes, tools, containers, etc. Paper will be provided. If you don't have any art supplies and wish to do the workshop, materials will be available. No previous experience is required. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring water and a light snack.

The workshop provides a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can explore the direct connection between body movement and "authentic" art making.

Cost: $45

Linda Kristin Blix: Screen Mono-Printing

Wednesday, August 25th, 2004 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

For those who like to paint! This is a most impressive and simple technique! All you do is paint a picture - abstract colour play or something realistic, if you prefer. Instead of painting on paper, you will paint with brilliantly coloured fabric dye onto a silkscreen. Wallpaper paste is pulled across the screen and your painting is transferred onto paper. Magic!!

Cost: $75 (includes all materials)

You will create 2 to 3 stunning prints!

Linda Kristin Blix: 'Generations' Printmaking

Monday, August 23rd, 2004 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

This is a fun workshop for children and their parents or grandparents. A summer's end opportunity to learn a spectacular new printmaking technique and experience the act of creating together. Styrofoam gadget prints create spectacular yet simple mulitcoloured prints. Weird and wonderful "gadgets" are used to gouge into peices of insulating styrofoam. Great big nails are used to draw a simple image, either realistic or abstract. The styrofoam is rolled with a light coloured ink and printed. Gadgets are then dragged, punched and stamped into the foam to create neat textures. The styrofoam will be rolled with multi-coloured ink and printed on top of the first print! Voila, Magic! Pulling a print is like opening a surprise gift - you never know exactly what to expect and are always delightfully surprised!

Cost: $20 per adult or child (children welcome on their own). Family Fee: additional children $15 each.

Each adult and child will go home with two frame-able prints and happy memories of a quality time spent together!

Audrey Jolly: Flowing Body to Fluid Acrylics

Friday, August 20th, 2004 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

A painting workshop that explores Golden Fluid Acrylics plus gels and mediums which create a variety of unique effects on paper. Working in absraction vs. representational with a limited colour palette (colour being a future workshop) will complement the materials and flowing body movement warm-up. Do not fear! The movements are simple, fun and geared to loosen up tight spots in the body. You will be surprised how quickly this will affect your painting experience and results. There is a definite, clear connection of body flow to painting, especially when you are using washes and glazes layered with your own spontaneous unique forms arising from the movements.

Wear comfortable clothing to move in. Bring a variety of brushes, palette, 3 - 4 containers (medium sized), cookie sheet or tray, light snack and water to drink.

Cost: $30 plus $10 material fee (paint, mediums and paper is provided)
